FUNDRAISER FOR APNE AAP

Friday April 11

A great night for  Glimpses of Asia

and

a great event for Apne Aap.

One hundred and fifty people crowded the house and garden near Khan Market graciously offered by one of our AWA members. Every photo was auctioned and 38 lucky guests came away high bidders. Our colleagues from Apne Aap offered news of the organization and provided inspiration for further bidding, though we missed Apne Aap founder Ruchira Gupta who had to be in New York that night.

Apne Aap works in Delhi, West Bengal and Bihar; today they reach over 15,000 women and girls through a community empowerment model that helps provide choices to women trafficked and exploited by those in the sex industry.

This particular fundraiser helped inform people who might not otherwise know about Apne Aap though an enjoyable fundraiser- and it gave some publicity to our local photographers as well.  We raised over 2.5 lakh so far; this will go to Apne Aap for their educational initiatives.

Some photos will be available as reprints at the high bid price! Stay tuned for an upcoming post with opportunities to buy – all proceeds continue to go to Apne Aap.
